11 March 2020 Current Events Kerala Closed Owing to Coronavirus Cases; 18 New Confirmed Cases Across India

As on March 10, India's count of Coronavirus has risen by 61, amongst which eight has been tested positive from Kerala, four from Karnataka, five from Maharashtra and one from Jammu & Kashmir. Further, Kerala has kept 1,495 people under observation. Kerala government has gone on high alert and severe restrictions such as closing educational institutions and cinema houses till the month-end have been imposed. In a cabinet meeting which took place on Tuesday, the state leaders decided to close down educational institutions except for medical education institutions. Kerala's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan requested all religious institutions to avoid organising festivals and rituals which requires mass gatherings. The total number of cases in India as on Wednesday is 61.
