Major fire breaks out at Bhiwandi apparel factory

At around 8:00 am on Tuesday morning, a major fire broke out at a garment factory in Bhiwandi (near Mumbai). The rescue operation is still underway with 25 people have been rescued so far. Nine fire tenders and five water takers are present at the spot, struggling to extinguish the flames. More than 150 people are expected to be trapped inside the four-storey building.

SC approves NEET for medical courses

Today, the Supreme Court gave a ‘green’ signal to the process of implementing NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test) for medical courses across India. It was in June 2013 that the Supreme Court had ruled that the Medical Council of India (MCI’s) notification for conducting common entrance tests for MBSS, BDS and post-graduate medical courses was invalid. While hearing a review petition on NEET, SC informed about hearing the case from scratch on the basis of common entrance test’s validity.

BSNL eyes connecting 1 lakh Panchayats by WiFi in 2016

BSNL is engaged in testing a WiFi-based network that can be utilized for connecting about 1 lakh village panchayats in 2016 with high-speed internet. The firm has already started a pilot for testing the broadband connectivity to village panchayats using WiFi network. Additionally, BSNL is also busy testing the sustainability of technology in three different villages in the Alwar district of Rajasthan.
