Govt. denies receiving proposal to rename Akbar Road

The Urban Development Ministry has denied having received any proposal for renaming Delhi’s Akbar Road to Maharana Pratap Road. There has been a buzz that the ministry had rejected the proposal of Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar, seeking moderation of Akbar Road situated in Lutyen’s Delhi, which also houses the Congress’ headquarters. Last year, the government had renamed Aurangzeb Road in the Lutyen’s Bunglow Zone after the former president late APJ Abdul Kalam.

BSE Sensex gains by over 200 points

With an increased buying interest in banking and IT stocks, Sensex saw a rise by 225 points to close at 25,822. On the other hand, Nifty also went above its 7,900 mark with Nifty Bank and Nifty IT sub-indices rising by 1 per cent each. Sensex opened with 100+ points gains along with the 50-shares Nifty rising by 40 points to close at 7,887.
