ECI Officer Makes Detailed Presentation on EVM Security Features in Meeting

As per reports, during a meeting with political parties, the Election Commission of India (ECI) mentioned that funds for Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) from the government have been received and it is going to be implemented by 2019. The move has been welcomed by the poll panel.

In order to discuss issues of allegations of EVM ‘rigging’, various political parties attended a meeting called by the panel. The meeting also dwelled on proposed electoral reforms.

The date of the proposed challenge will reportedly be decided after the meeting.

IT Department Launches Online Facility to Link Aadhaar and PAN

As per reports, a new way of linking Aadhaar numbers with permanent account numbers (PAN) is being offered by the Income Tax Department on its e-filing website, in order to increase compliance.

Linking Aadhaar with PAN will help the government to make sure that only intended beneficiaries get the subsidies as the tax department will be able to confirm with the other arms of the government to find out of a beneficiary of a scheme belongs to a particular eligible income group.
