Five killed in cyclone Hudhud

Cyclone Hudhud made a landfall on the port city of Vishakapatnam this Sunday before noon. Along with cyclone came heavy rain, wind and storm in three coastal cities Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram. Cyclone has uprooted many trees and so far 5 persons have been reported killed by cyclone Hudhud. It has also disrupted communication and power lines. Government of Andhra Pradesh has evacuated 90,013 people across the four districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhaptnam and East Godavari and near about 68,000 from coastal districts of Odisha.

Amazon's Diwali Dhamaka Sale

It was Flipkart's 'Big Billion Day' sale and now it is Amazon India's 'Diwali Dhamaka' sale from October 10-16 with a slogan "Not just a day. 7 days of best deals ever." Flipkart's one day sale received mixed response and more criticism because of technological and other glitches. Public awaited for a massive discounts on products but unable to get bargains they wanted. Flipkart even apologized in public. Amazon is posting latest deals at great discount.

Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana for rural development

With an objective to develop rural India, Prime Minister launched a scheme and asked each MP, making around 800 MPs, to adopt three villages and develop their physical and institutional infrastructure by 2019. Under the ‘Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana’ (MP Model Village Scheme) MPs are free to pick any village except for his or her own village, in-laws or relative's village. PM will pick a village in Varanasi in his Parliamentary constituency in UP. Each MP will develop one village by 2016. He also added that developing one village may cause a viral impact and push others to do the same.

Ambani twins Isha and Akash appointed as directors of Reliance Jio Infocomm and Reliance Retail board

Isha and Akash, twins of billionaire Mukesh Ambani has made their way to Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). Isha is now the part of the board of Reliance Jio Infocomm, her twin brother Akash has joined the Reliance Retail board. Isha has done her graduation from the Yale University with majors in psychology and South Asian studies in 2013. She also worked with consultancy firm McKinsey in US. Whereas Akash has been graduated from Brown University with major in Economics. He was working on RIL's 4G telecom venture.

Confusion over Lalit Modi's ouster from RCA

In an urgent meeting of district representatives of the Rajasthan Cricket Association at Jaipur, the elected President Lalit Modi has been voted out and replaced by BJP minority cell leader Amin Pathan. 22 out 33 votes favored Pathan. But the RCA Deputy President Mohammad Abdi has denied any such development and said that all are rumours floated by miscreants. RCA was undergoing a legal battle with the BCCI since its suspension in May last year.

VIP fancy number sold in Delhi's first e-auction

For the first time 'VIP' or vanity numbers has been issued by the city government without VIP references. In Delhi's first e-auction 29 VIP numbers were sold with the highest bid of Rs 12.5 lakh on number 0001. For 0009 the bid was Rs 8.25 lakh whereas for 0007 it was Rs 5.5 lakh. Businessman Gautam Morarka's Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Ltd was the highest bidder followed by Karun Arora and Brys Hotels Pvt Ltd.
