8 engineers crack CAT with 100 percentile

In the Common Admission Test 2013 eight engineers have scored 100 percentile. All male, 4 of them belong to Andhra Pradesh, 1 from Delhi and 3 are from Mumbai. The results were announced at 9am at IIM Indore. As per the CAT officials 2 have masters in engineering and rest have bachelor’s degree. Three are working and have a 1 -2 years of job experience in banking service, information technology and automobiles. The candidates who have scored 99.99 percentile are 10 in number of which one is a woman and rest men. IIM Indore had organized this test which was taken by 173738 candidates. This was held from October 16 to November 11 across 40 cities. The top scorers get admission in the IIMs and rest are absorbed by other management institutes which also take into account CAT score for admissions.

Bihar now 5th best state among the midday meal schemes

Bihar had to face huge criticism over death of 23 children after they ate the midday meal last year. This time the state stands 5th among the best performing states. Bihar is superseded by Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Tripura. The ranking is done based on many factors like hot meals, area covered, and nutritional content of the food. The State Education Minister informed that this has become possible because of the initiative by the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) was launched along with the website which offered details of the midday meals which could be viewed by anyone. Now other states have also followed the same pattern of launching a site offering details of the midday meal scheme.

Delhi law minister denies tampering charges, gets support from Kejriwal


Delhi law minister Somnath Bharti dismissed charges leveled against him of trying to tamper with the evidence in a corruption case in August 2012 after he got support from Arvind Kejriwal. He stated he was adding to the evidence and had no intentions of tampering it. There are also allegations on him that he was trying to influence a witness, and both the Congress and the BJP have demanded for his resignation. He was indicted in Delhi by a CBI court along with Pawan Kumar his client who also had corruption charges on him. In fact the CBI special judge had termed the action as very objectionable. Kejriwal to this has stated that even though AAP regards the judiciary in high esteem but in this case the court’s observation was not correct. Kejriwal also stated the scam which involved Rs100 crore concerned a bank wherein fake letters of credit was raised. In this a number of bank officials were involved but the desk officer Pawan Kumar was framed . Bharti had earlier stated on Twitter that he would expose the CBI.

Would execute all the responsibilities assigned with sincerity: Rahul Gandhi

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi stated he would be executing his responsibilities in future with utmost sincerity amid signs that he may be named the prime ministerial candidate for the Congress at the AICC meeting on Friday. He also added that Congress will be back in power after the 2014 elections as the interest of the nation was of prime importance. He also added that as a democracy people will select the prime minister among the elected representatives. He stated that he would be shouldering all the responsibilities assigned to him and in future by the party. He specified that Congress was a dynamic party and there were many areas where they had differences with the AAP. He also stated that the long term betterment of the people should have been considered rather than focusing on short term gains.

Fall in prices may be easing the inflation


The rigid high inflation in the country seems to be easing down after dip in the vegetable prices that comes as a sigh of relief to the ruling Congress party. If inflation is relaxed a bit it would be easier for the RBI as well which has crucial role of bringing out the economy from a situation resembling stagflation. Economic growth has been static at 5% for the last 4 months though prices kept on increasing. Wholesale prices also declined last month to 7% from 7.52% in November, which was highest in 14 months. Annual headline inflation has shown an average of 8%, which is double than the RBI’s comfort zone, for the last four years.

Twitter adopts mobile interface for its web interface


Twitter has got a new look again in its website with resemblance more to Android and iOS apps. The web interface of the micro blogging site will have a white navigation bar taking the leaf from its mobile’s interface. There will be left panel which will display the header photo of the user. Placed below that there will be sections of who to follow and Trends. Users can also change the accent color in their profile page. Twitter had gone public and had stated that 76% of its users login through their mobiles each month. This is why the mobile interface is very popular among the 230 million user base.
