Sonu Nigam in line to be waxed at Madame Tussauds

After a series of Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif have been immortalised at the Madame Tussauds wax museum, it’s the turn of Bollywood’s first non-actor to be cast in wax. Sonu Nigam, the singing sensation of India, was approached in December 2014 and the Tussauds team is expected to arrive within a month to decide on the singer-composer’s look and measurements.

SBI launches wealth management units for start-ups

India’s top lender by assets, the State Bank of India (SBI), has launched a brand new wealth management services unit in addition to the different branches that would specially cater to start-ups. SBI’s first bank branch for start-ups would begin operations from Bengaluru prior to expanding to other parts of the country. Seen as an initiative to modernise the existing operations, SBI would also be adding new segments to lure contemporary private sector lenders.

Rupee falls to its weakest since 2013

While the Indian Rupee has fallen to its lowest since September 2013, the traders remain unperturbed as they believe the central bank intervention would allow the currency to combat the stiff global scenario. The Rupee has weakened to a low of 67.2550 against the dollar, a scenario last seen in September 2013, when the country was hit by market turmoil since the 1991 balance of payment crisis.

Moto G price slashed by 17%, now available at Rs. 9,999

Motorola has slashed the price of its Moto G third generation smartphone by 17% to Rs. 9,999. Initially launched in July 2015, the Moto G handset with 8GB memory and 1GB RAM was available at Rs. 11,999 and the one with 16GB memory and 2GB RAM could be purchased at a price of Rs, 12,999 in India. Additionally, the Moto G (3rd Gen) is now equipped with exciting exchange offers priced up to Rs. 4,000.  

Indo-Pak FS Talks slated for tomorrow stand cancelled

The un-ending confusion over JeM chief’s arrest in Pakistan has led to cancellation of foreign secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan scheduled for Friday in Islamabad. India’s foreign secretary S Jaishankar and Pakistan’s foreign secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chowdhury were to meet earlier this month, but the meeting plunged into uncertainty after India sought “prompt and decisive action” by Pakistan on evidence which indicated the role of JeM in the Pathankot Airforce base attacks in Pathankot.

Reliance Communications gets a 'Go Ahead' for Sistema deal

Today, India’s leading CDMA and GSM Service Provider Reliance Communications (RCom) informed about receiving a go-ahead from the BSE and NSE for its deal to acquire the Russian Sistema’s Indian telecom unit called Sistema Shyam Teleservices (SSTL). RCom’s spokesperson also informed about filing the necessary application for the same with the Bombay High court. Additionally, SSTL would be filing the necessary application with the Rajasthan High Court.

Maulana Masood Azhar's arrest still dicey, says India

Yesterday, though Pakistani media reported taking Maulana Masood Azhar and his close relatives into protective custody, the spokesperson for the Indian Foreign Ministry, Vikas Swarup, told the media that no official confirmation on the detention of Masood Azhar was received from Pakistan. Jaish Chief Maulana Masood Azhar has been named as the mastermind behind the Pathankot Air Force base attack that took place earlier this month.

Vijender Singh's pro-boxing debut in India this July

After having made his pro-boxing debut in Manchester last year, Vijender Singh is geared up to fight his first professional boxing match in India in the month of July 2016. Sharing Vijender’s tentative plans, his UK-based promoter Francis Warren informed about a big show scheduled to take place in Delhi around July, followed by “something huge” around the months of September and October.

Sensex and Nifty likely to open lower today

The BSE Sensex and Nifty are expected to open lower with the rupee trading close to Rs. 67 per dollar and Nifty futures on the Singapore Stock Exchange trading down 1.3 per cent i.e. at 98 points to close at Rs. 7,475. Businessmen predict 7,400 on Nifty to be in danger in case the selling pressure shoots up in the intra-day trade.

4 Indians headed for ISIS detained in Syria

Syrian Deputy Prime Minister Walid Al Moaulem, who is on a three-day visit to India, has confirmed the report saying four Indians who were planning to join the militant group ISIS have been taken into custody in Damascus. Without giving out details the whereabouts of the four young Indians, the Syrian Deputy Prime Minister just informed that the men had entered Syria from Jordan.

Without giving out details like the names of four young Indians, from where the men had come from, when and where they had been taken into custody; the Syrian Deputy Prime Minister just informed the men had entered Syria from Jordan.
