Uttar Pradesh election is scheduled for next year and Congress General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi announced that former Delhi Chief Minister is going to be the face of the Congress. Party members said that the sole reason behind Dixit's selection is experience and the good work she has done in the past.
156 people who were evacuated from South Sudan have been brought to India through the first flight. Minister of State V K Singh said that there are around 550 Indians in South Sudan and a few of them have already booked their tickets. However, some are there who do not want to come back to India. Indian Air Force carrier C-17 Globemasters ferried them back, first landed in Thiruvananthapuram and then arrived at Delhi.
Hardik Patel has been released from Lajpore Central Jail, Surat on Friday. While walking out, he kept on repeating that he only wants rights for the community. In next 48 hours, he will be shifted to Airport Road, Udaipur in Rajasthan as his temporary base for six months. He was received by Nationalist Congress Party chief Jayant Patel.
