15 July 2019 Current Events Anshula Kant First Indian Woman to be Appointed MD and CFO of World Bank

MD and CFO of the State Bank of India, Anshula Kant, has been appointed the MD and CFO of the World Bank group. At SBI, she has handled various positions in treasury, operations, risk management and regulatory compliance. At the World Bank, she will be responsible for financial reporting, risk management and resource mobilisation. Kant is an alumnus of Lady Shri Ram College and Delhi School of Economics (Delhi University). It is interesting to note that women of Indian origin are now emerging at the forefront of the global financial world. At present, the Chief Economist of the IMF is Gita Gopinath, an Indian American economist and professor at Harvard University.
