Hyndai Motor's new Xcent

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has launched its compact sedan, the Xcent at a starting price of Rs 4.66 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will compete with the Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Dzire as well as HMIL’s sedan segment. BS Seo, MD & CEO, HMIL said that the car has been especially designed for the Indian families and it will set up new records of quality, design, space and driving pleasure among the cars of this segment. Year 2013 saw a negative growth in auto sector but sale of sedan segment was going steadily and grew at 28.5%. Each month the company sold 24,000 units. HMIL senior vice-president Rakesh Srivastava added that Xcent will give a new push to the sale and this segment will grow further. He also added it will be benefitted by the recent decline in excise duty. 1.2 litre petrol and 1.1 litre diesel are the two available engine options of the Xcent with mileage of 19.1 kmpl and 24.4 kmpl respectively. In Xcent Hyundai’s the company has tried to redefine the automotive brilliance. It is the first car in this segment to have features like rear parking camera and sensors, dual airbags, glove box for cooling, auto folding mirror etc. Xcent will not affect the sale of i20.

A bit of relief in inflation before General Elections

It looks like that the wellbeing of the Indian economy is getting slightly better ahead of Lok Sabha election. Inflation was going up and up but for the first time it came down to 4.68% in February. Drop in the prices of onion and potato has also been noticed. But rise in the price of eggs, fish and meat has been recorded in February as compared to the last month. A drop in the inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index has also been recorded. Last year it was 7.28% and last month that inflation was 5.50%. It is expected that the Reserve Bank of India will now cut down the interest rate that will help in reviving the economy. Finance Minister P Chidambaram expressed happiness over a decline in inflation and expects improvement in prices before the General Elections. Food inflation has also dropped to 8.12% from 8.8%. Except for fruit, rice and milk there is a fall in the price of other food items. Before February, the lowest Wholesale Price Index was calculated in May last year and the figures stood at 4.58%. Whereas in June it went up to 5.16%. On the whole vegetable inflation dropped to 3.99%from 16.6% in January. Inflation in case of manufactured items is the same.

Can media show the true picture of Gujarat – Arvind Kejriwal

The Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal bombarded the media by saying if the media had courage to show the true story of Gujarat. He said this before launching his roadshow in Bangalore and blamed media for not showing the correct picture of Gujarat’s chief minister Narendra Modi and his Gujarat. These comments by Kejriwal had initiated a controversy that the entire media is sold out. He supported his statement by saying that condition of the farmers is so poor in the state. Their lands had also been snatched. He added that Modiji is not the rescuer of the farmers. Kejriwal said that it is not a generalize statement but speaking on the basis of what he has seen in the state. Therefore media must show the truth. He said that in Gujarat there is a rule of corruption and bride. It looks like a big conspiracy. This is his two days tour in Bangalore and during this he will also attend a Rs 20,000 per person dinner for raising funds for the party. His tour in Bangalore would conclude with a roadshow in Chikkaballapur on Sunday.

Modi addressed lawyers and asked them vote for clean India

While addressing the gathering of the lawyers, the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi asked them to vote for clean India. They should vote to bring change. He even slammed External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid for not showing respect to the apex court of the country and the Election Commission. The meeting was organized by the senior lawyer and former BJP leader Ram Jethmalani. Modi added that India should be made corruption free as this is the high time to do this. Lawyers can play a very crucial role in this cleaning. Modi talked about the role of the lawyers and said that almost all the freedom fighters were from this profession. He added that delay is the cause of concern in our democratic system but our judicial system is admired by the rest of the world. He said that there should be laws related to forensic science because more and more crimes are executed with modern techniques.  Modi gave example of Gujarat and its lawyers at the taluka level. He added that those lawyers use e-library and get best of the knowledge. Cases in the court are then presented in a more inclusive way. Modi talked about the lack of good law universities in the country. He said that law universities must provide good practical legal knowledge.

Sushma Swaraj showed displeasure over Sriramulu entry into BJP

Presently a political scene in India is very hot. Leaders are joining or quitting one or another party. Recently Karnataka leader B Sriramulu joined the BJP. But senior leader of the BJP Sushma Swaraj is not happy with his entry into the party. She showed her displeasure by tweeting “I want to make it absolutely clear that B.Sriramulu has been admitted in the party despite my stiff opposition.” Earlier also she had spoken about the merger of Sriramulu's BSR Congress with the BJP. To oppose this action and to show her opposition she had written to party chief Rajnath Singh. In her letter she wrote that such tainted leder should not be made part of the party. On this the BJP decided not to go for the merger and introduced just Sriramulu to the BJP. This step was taken deliberately to keep the Reddy brothers out of the BJP. A senor BJP leader has said that other leaders of the BSR Congress were allowed after proper screening of their resume. To join the BJP a person must have clean and untainted image. Sriramulu joined the BJP on Friday and called Sushma as his ‘mother’. It is expected that the BJP will give Sriramulu a seat from Bellary in Karnataka. BJP expects that BSR leaders can bring 3% votes.

Rahul Gandhi called opinion polls as joke and appealed party workers not to worry

The Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi called poll survey a joke which stated that the Congress would get just 100 seats in the Lok Sabha election. He also said that by no means Narendra Modi nand BJP would come to power. He held the first ever ‘Google Hangout’ with party workers and attacked the internal candidate tussle among the senior leaders of the BJP over candidature. He added that the objective of the campaign run by the Opposition is to demoralize you. In case you are not demoralized then we shall break them. In a reply to the question that if the party gets about 100 seats after poll, Gandhi said that without a doubt they will be getting 200 plus seats. Their game plan is to demoralize Congress workers and to create doubts. He added that in 2004 as well as 2009 every opinion poll was against us but we won. He said that no assumption should be based on opinion poll as these are not law.  Gandhi urged everyone to fight a strong election. He appealed his party workers from various parts of the country not to fall in the trap of the Opposition. Gandhi also said that Congress party thinks of revolution whereas BJP is a conservative and symbolizes status quo.
