Rahul Gandhi to take command of Congress party as President today

Rahul Gandhi will take over as the President of the Indian National Congress today. Sonia, Gandhi will be retiring after serving as the President of the Congress for 19 years. The announcement of Rahul Gandhi's name was marked by celebrations outside the Congress headquarters in Delhi. All important dignitaries, including leaders like Manmohan Singh, MPs and senior Congress leaders, will be present at the handover ceremony.

Triple talaq bill passed in the Union Cabinet

The bill for considering instant triple talaq as a crime was passed in the Union Cabinet on Friday. The person who will be practising instant triple talaq or talaq-e-biddat will be sentenced to three years jail after the bill will be validated or taken into action. The government has intended to introduce the bill in the winter session of the Parliament. According to Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, this bill is going to help women against this complicit activity and support gender justice.
