Sensex & Nifty set to open higher today

Both BSE Sensex and Nifty are expected to open higher in trades, courtesy the firm global cues. With the Nifty futures (also known as the SGX Nifty) increasing by up to 0.46 per cent or 33 points to close at 7,207, a range of other Asian markets will also trade impressively. With foreign institutional investors selling Indian shares in the cash market, the ICICI Bank, Just Dial, Reliance Industries and Reliance Communications will be under focus.

Ringing Bells to launch Rs. 500 smartphone in India tomorrow

Having received incredible support from the Indian government, the local smartphone manufacturer Ringing Bells will launch an extremely affordable smartphone named as Freedom 251 tomorrow. Sporting a price tag below Rs. 500 (i.e. approximately $7), Freedom 251 is intended to improve the lifestyle of Indian population with a low income. Earlier this month, Ringing Bells launched Smart 101- a 4G capable smartphone available at a price of Rs. 2,999. 

PM Modi to meet opposition leaders today

Prior to the Budget Session beginning next week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has summoned a meeting of leaders of major political parties in order to seek their cooperation for effective functioning of Parliament. He had has invited leaders of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha of major political parties.

UP Samajwadi Party loses to BJP in Muzaffarnagar

Ahead of the state elections scheduled for next year, the by-polls have Uttar Pradesh’s ruling Samajwadi Party losing to the BJP in Muzaffarnagar. The party has also lost the Deoband seat to Congress but has been successful in retaining a third seat in U.P. As an attempt to avoid any violence after the verdict, Muzaffarnagar’s local administration has banned victory marches.

Night shifts for non-IT Karnataka women

As an attempt to bring a revolution in archaic labour laws, the Karnataka government is all set to allow non-IT women to work in night shifts. Just like the women who are currently employed with IT- IT-enabled services and hospice sectors, women indulged in textile, manufacturing and service sectors would find an opportunity to showcase their talents without any time constraint.

Chandigarh gears for online registration of immovable properties

In an initiative to plug revenue leakage, reduce dispute and to ensure customer welfare, the UT Administration has come up with a project wherein the entire record available with the UT Estate Office, the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB), Municipal Corporation and Group Housing Cooperative Societies will be integrated in a software that would be developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC). Each property would have a unique file along with a number and electronic signatures would be used for transferring and registering immovable property online.

Sensex & Nifty end lower in trades

After yesterday’s closure at 550+ points, both BSE Sensex and Nifty ended lower in trades. Even though selling pressure was witnessed on Sensex and Nifty for a major part of the day, in late noon, deals with oil & gas, PSU Banking and capital goods stocks fell by huge margins.

Apple to open development centre in Hyderabad

Technology giant Apple has officially announced opening a development centre in Hyderabad. This office would accommodate a whopping 150+ Apple employees in addition to supporting maps development. Additionally, there will be space for several contractors who will look into the development that needs to be done on a local level.
