Vikas Swarup, India's New High Commissioner to Canada

As per reports, Vikas Swarup, who is presently the official spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs has been appointed as High Commissioner of lndia to Canada on Thursday. Swarup is an officer from the 1986 batch of the Indian Foreign Service. He is also known for writing the novel Q & A.

He was appointed as the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs of India in April 2015.

Edappadi K Palaniswami Appointed as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister

Edappadi K Palaniswami has been appointed as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu by the state's Governor C Vidyasagar Rao on Thursday.

The chief minister-designate has been requested by the governor to seek the assembly's vote confidence within 15 days.

The decision was conveyed to Palaniswami when he visited the Raj Bhawan at 11.30 am, along with the party presidium chairman K A Sengottaiyan and senior ministers Dindigul C Sreenivasan and P Thangamani.

Reports say that 124 legislators support Palaniswami.
