16 January 2017 Current Events ATM Withdrawal Limit Increased, Reports from Delhi

Reports from Delhi say that the RBI has increased the withdrawal limit of the daily transaction in ATM to 10,000 from 4,500 on Monday. However, the weekly withdrawal limit will remain the same, 24,000.

The limit on withdrawal from the current accounts has been increased to 1,00,000 from 50,000 per week.


Barkha Dutt Quits NDTV, Delhi

Senior journalist Barkha Dutt has resigned from her position of Consulting Editor of NDTV, Delhi. Reports say that she may start her own venture. She was associated with the channel for 21 years, and for which NDTV has appreciated her long-time association with them.

Dutt received much recognition in journalism for her fearless coverage in Kargil war, 1999. With NDTV’s programme We The People, she became the face of the channel. She won Padma Shri and many other national and international awards.


Uttarakhand: Yashpal Arya joins BJP

As per reports, senior Congress leader and state cabinet minister Yashpal Arya has joined BJP on Monday, just before a month from assembly elections in Uttarakhand.

The BJP national president Amit Shah was present while State Irrigation Minister was joining the party during a function held in Delhi. Reports say that Arya’s son Sanjeev Arya will also be moving to BJP.

Arya is a six-term MLA. The reason of his switching to BJP is reportedly the minister's discontentment with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat.
