16 January 2020 Current Events Mukesh Yadav, One of the Convicts of Nirbhaya Case Filed Mercy Petition

On Wednesday, Delhi government told High court that the execution of the four convicts of 2012 gang rape and murder case "will surely not take place" on the decided date i.e. January 22 because of the mercy petition filed by Mukesh Yadav, one of the convicts. However, the court turned down the matter by saying that there was "nothing wrong with it". Last week, the trial court signed a death warrant of Vinay Sharma, Mukesh Kumar, Akshay Kumar Singh and Pawan Gupta to hang them at Tihar Jail next Wednesday at 7 am.
