Four year old reportedly raped and abandoned in a park in Delhi


The Delhi gang-rape convicts got death sentence but that doesn’t seem to deter the persons who indulge in the heinous crime. A four year old girl was supposedly raped and abandoned in a park in Naraina area of south-west Delhi. The child was discovered in an unconscious state and was admitted to the hospital where her condition is now reported to be stable. According to her parents the girl was playing outside when she was taken to the park by a man who said would give her chocolates. Some people have been detained by the police who is waiting for the girl’s condition to improve to get more details and clues about the person who was responsible for her condition.

Communal violence in UP "a big incident": PM


Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who is on a visit to Muzaffarnagar districts in UP which was hit by riots, has stated that the incident was a big one, and it will be seen that the perpetrators of this violence are strictly punished. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is also with him on this tour. The PM had a discussion with the officials while walking past Bassi Kalan and Tawli villages. In the communal violence the worst to happen in 20 years, as many as 48 people lost their lives and 100 were injured. For this army had to be deployed. 43,000 lived in makeshift shelters as they had to leave their homes in the villages which were attacked by the mob. The people who met the PM also complained that they were not getting the kind of support they should have from the administration.

More woes for the economy, headline inflation at 6 months high


A six month’s high, the country’s wholesale price based inflation increased to 6.1% in August. This has been the steepest increase with onion prices which increased to 245% adding much to the woes. There was 18% hike in food prices. The headline inflation is calculated based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI). It was 5.79% in July and was 8.01% in the same month last year. The concerning factor is the rise in food prices which spiked from 9.34% in the same month last year to 18.18% in August this year.

The increase in prices were

  • Vegetable prices doubled almost
  • Onion prices increased by 245%
  • Poultry and meat by 18.86%
  • Rice price increased by 20.13%
  • Price of wheat rose by 7.6%
  • Cereals become dearer by 14.35%
CLT20 kick starts from tomorrow


The 4th Edition of Champions League Twenty20 will kick start from Tuesday at Mohali with the qualifying matches. Next match is that of Sunrisers Hyderabad which is led by Shikhar Dhawan and Kandurata Maroons of Sri Lanka. Three teams are from the subcontinent and Volts is from New Zealand. The two teams which will be on top will meet three teams - Mumbai Indians who won the IPL, Chennai Super Kings who were the runner ups and Rajasthan Royals who were second runner ups.

Dilip Kumar suffers heart attack, hospitalized


Dilip Kumar, the veteran actor who is now 90 years old was hospitalized on Sunday evening as he complained of pain in the chest and breathlessness which was found to have been caused by a heart attack. Dilip Kumar was taken to the ICU of Lilavati Hospital and is under the care of cardiologist Dr Nitin Gokhale. As per the sources he is conscious and is not on life support system. He had a heart attack on the inferior wall which is considered severe as the wall is much smaller so the attack causes greater impact. The doctors are not considering surgery because of actor’s old age and will be opting for conservative treatment with drugs.
