17 March 2018 Current Events The government says no proposal under consideration to discontinue 2000 rupee notes

Minister of State for Finance P Radhakrishnan said that there is no proposal under consideration by the government to discontinue 2000 rupees notes which were introduced post demonetization. The minister wrote a reply in Lok Sabha. Mr. Radhakrishnan also commented on plastic notes and said a decision is made to conduct a field trial of plastic banknotes in denominations of ten rupees at five locations - Kochi, Mysore, Jaipur, Shimla, and Bhubaneshwar.


All England Open Badminton tournament: PV Sindhu storms into semi-finals

Indian Badminton player PV Sindhu stormed into the semi-finals of the All England Open Badminton tournament which is taking place in Birmingham on Friday. Sindhu will play against Japan's Akane Yamaguchi for a place in finals on Saturday. PV Sindhu is the open shuttler left in the tournament after HS Prannoy lost the quarter-final against China's Yuxiang Huang.
