Arrest the policemen or face protest – Kejriwal government

In the battle between the police and the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sought the suspension of three policemen. In case there is no suspension then Kejriwal government even threatens to protest. Kejriwal has set a deadline for the Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to suspend the police officers and in case it is not met then they will protest. The whole controversy hit the roof after Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti’s arguments with the policemen. At midnight Bharti raided to bust an alleged prostitution racket. Locals of the area had made several complaints against growing prostitution business in the area by African women to the police. The African women have now filed a complaint with Delhi Police against minister’s men and said that they attacked them. A local said that the Law Minister had asked them to make the list of people involved and assured that action will be taken against them. The African women in Khirki village also claimed that they were kept in the car forcefully and then taken to the hospital where they were tested for drug consumption. Education Minister Manish Sisodia said that policemen should be suspended. The Police on the other hand is saying that the AAP government is interfering in their work. Police Commissioner BS Bassi is will the police team and said that it is their duty to protect the public. He further added that inquiry should happen.

India defeated Germany in Hockey World League by 5-4

India is now at 5th place in hockey after defeating the world champion Germany by 5-4 in the 5-8 classification game. In the last minute of the match Rupinder Singh scored from a penalty corner giving India the much required win. Coach Terry Walsh said that the boys have the caliber and match the Germans. Picking the game from 0-2 to win is really commendable. Mandeep Singh, a man of the match and triple scorer won all praises from the coach. India’s play in the second half was much better than the first. Rupinder Singh and Mandeep Singh with double strike brought the score to 3-3. Mandeep Singh then gave a lead of 4-3 to India by his third goal. But a penalty corner goal from Martin Häner equalized the score to 4-4. Then Rupinder Singh secured a penalty corner and gave 5-4 win to India. German Tobias Hauke said that control of the match was lost by them and then India was all there to win it. To this Coach Markus Weise said that they did not use their chances accurately and so defeated themselves.

New breast cancer drug by Biocon and Mylan Inc will hit the market in February 2014

After cervical cancer, breast cancer is the second most common form of cancer among women in India. Each year near about 1.5 lakh new cancer patients are diagnosed with this deadly disease. Out of these 25% are diagnosed with HER2-positive breast cancer. It is the fastest growing cancer and has the greater chances to reoccur and death even after treatment. But these cancer patients will get a new drug in the coming February in India developed jointly by Bangalore-based Biocon and US-based Mylan Inc. The name of this new drug is CANMAb. Cost of a 440 mg vial is Rs 57,500 and that of a 150 mg vial is Rs 19,500. It will be used to treat HER2-positive breast cancer. Presently Herceptin drug is used in the market that costs Rs 75,000 for a 440 mg vial. This was originally developed by Swiss pharma company Roche to treat HER-2 type of breast cancer. The new drug is cheaper than the old one and expected to have same level of security and effectiveness.

Apple may sell 8GB iPhone 4 at lower price in India

Apple has new strategy for India and iPhone lovers will surely like it. It is expected that Apple will soon sell its 8GB iPhone 4 in India for the price as low as Rs22,000. The objective of the lower price is to target Indian consumer who is ready to spend some extra bucks to buy iPhone. At the time of launch the retail price for the same model was Rs 26,500 so the new price will be about 70 dollars less than the previous retail price. In 2013 the total sale of Apple’s mobile phones in India was less than 2%. By lowering down the price Apple want to capture more market share but Apple hasn’t confirmed anything yet.

New anti-corruption officers to replace old ones – Arvind Kejriwal

Sticking to his words, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that new anti-corruption officers to look into all graft cases against the previous government will soon be appointed by the Delhi government. In an interview to the TV news channel, Kejriwal has said that he has talked to the Lt Governor on the matter of removing some senior anti-corruption officers appointed by the last government. List of these officers who are from the Economic Offence Wing and Delhi Jal Board has been given to the Lt Governor. Appointment of new officers will be done after checking their records thoroughly. They need to be honest to handle the cases of corruption without being biased. Kejriwal added that nobody will be spared in corruption cases whether from BJP or Congress or any other political party. He further added that the Commonwealth Games files are also under investigation and initiatives in this regard will be taken soon. With the appointment of new officers, corruption cases will be taken up very swiftly.

Sunanda Pushkar wife of Union minister Shashi Tharoor found dead

Sunanda Pushkar wife of Union Minister Shashi Tharoor was found dead in her hotel room at the Leela Hotel. They had even told the media that everything is fine between them and they are not upset over the tweet issue. On Wednesday evening, Shashi Tharoor’s twitter handle, a social micro blogging site, had some favoring tweets for Pakistani columnist Mehr Tarar who had interviewed Tharoor and Omar Abdullah last year. As tweets were posted on twitter, the minister was flying back from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi. Media approached Sunanda Pushkar and she said that she had used his handle. Before Tharoor could reach Delhi Pushkar had already spoken some hard words at the press conference. Tharoor on reaching immediately issued a clarification on twitter stating that his twitter account has been hacked. Pushkar started using her twitter account to vent out anger for Tarar. Her tweets clearly show her state of mind and trouble. Earlier also their marriage saw some ups and down after attending a marriage in Dubai. There was bitter tweets from Sunanda Pushkar who later said that all the tweets were unauthorized and everything is fine between them. Later in the statement it was said that Sunanda Pushkar was on medication for an auto immune disease Lupus and stomach tuberculosis. Celebrities are expressing shock and posting condolence messages on twitter.
