Edappadi K Palaniswami, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, announced to the media on Wednesday that 32 self-service booths dispensing vital drugs will be placed at various cities in Tamil Nadu, such as Chennai. This will include 23 government medical college hospitals and remaining at urban primary health centres. Moreover, the machines placed will dispense drugs for chronic ailments such as hypertension, diabetes and tuberculosis. Machines like these will help patients to save their time, as they need not stand in queues for long hours outside dispensaries. In order to collect drugs, patients must use a QR code prescribed in the prescription. Meanwhile, the CM informed the media houses that such kiosks planned to be set up will cost the government Rs 80 lakhs.
