Kirron Kher gets eggs and black flags as welcome in Chandigarh

This may not be the welcome actor Kirron Kher would have expected when she reached Chandigarh for contesting the Lok Sabha polls. Black flags and eggs by a group of BJP disgruntled supporters was what she got. The activists who are not happy with her candidature and think her to be an outsider attempted to block her arrival at the BJP’s Chandigarh office. Eggs were hurled also at a car where her husband actor Anupam Kher was traveling though Kirron was not in the car. Kirron addressed the media unfazed with the incident and stated that she was from Chandigarh and those who were protesting also belonged to the same BJP family and they would be pacified. The reason for discontent was because BJP chose Kirron as the candidate from Chandigarh and in the process MP Satya Pal Jain, former Union Minister Harmohan Dhawan and Chandigarh BJP President Sanjay Tandon were ignored. Satya Pal Jain won the Lok Sabha polls in Chandigarh in 1996 and 1998 though Pawan Kumar Bansal of the Congress won against him in 2004 and 2009.
