On Thursday evening, Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal confirmed odd-even implementation at a press conference. As per the scheme, vehicles will run on the street of Delhi with odd and even numbers on alternate days. Nonetheless, two-wheelers and vehicles carrying school children are not subject to the new rule. Further, the AAP chief also said that this rule is equally valid to the vehicles entering Delhi from other states. The scheme will be implemented in the national capital from November 4 to 15, from 8 am to 8 pm. It has been further clarified that any violation of the scheme will incur a fine of Rs 4,000. The motive behind implementing this odd even scheme is to curb air pollution which occurs around this time every year due to stubble burning in the states of Punjab and Haryana.
