Facebook Emerges as the Most Preferred Online Platform

Accenture survey finds Facebook as the most preferred online platform in India, closely followed by Google and YouTube. The research and consulting giant performed a survey among six hundred digital consumers belonging to different age groups and living in different cities of India during first half of 2014. After collating data, it was found that 93 per cent respondents prefer Facebook, 73 per cent Google, and 40 per cent YouTube. Some of the reasons for which the respondents visit Facebook include networking, socialising, get information on brands/products, and check discount offers.

SpiceJet stock at last witnessed a turnaround when Ajay Singh, ex-promoter as well as director of the ailing airliner, met Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju and assured him of bringing in more funds into the carrier along with a composite plan for reviving the ailing SpiceJet. ICICI Trims Foreign Operation, Sells Russian Subsidiary

Largest private lender in India, ICICI Bank, seems to be trimming its global operation due to unstable global macroeconomic indicators and other related factors. In a recent move the bank has sold its Russian subsidiary and also repatriated capital from its Canada and United Kingdom branches. Per the statement of ICICI Bank’s spokesperson, they are now weighing more on retail business in India over international operation.

eBay Census 2014 Report shows eCommerce Growth Fueled by 2-tier and 3-tier Companies

Census 2014 report of eBay India, published recently, debunked general perception that eCommerce growth in India is fueled by metropolises. In fact, the report shows that the growth is fuelled by Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities (3,133 cities to be particular), coupled by 1,233 rural hubs. According to the report, India is witnessing an upsurge in eCommerce customers, with significant penetration in 4,556 hubs.

Whistleblower Ashok Khemka Alleges Criminal Conspiracy in DLF-Robert Vadra Land Deal Case

Ashok Khemka, the already renowned IAS Officer who blew lid on DLF-Robert Vadra land deal, has now alleged that two important pages of a file related to the infamous land deal case are missing. He has sought criminal investigation in the case and also said that the concerned file went to the possession of certain officers who have no authorisation of accessing them or making comment on them. Khemka alleges that the missing two pages have been detached and accordingly formally complained to the Chief Secretary.

Intelligence agencies have warned authorities of possible suicide attack by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists on Tihar Jail in a bid to free fellow terrorists, who are behind bars. After this tip-off, 3-layer security apparatus has been enhanced by the jail authorities. DIG Mukesh Prasad has intimated the press that they are taking no chances in providing security to the jailed inmates. Jail sources reveal that every movement inside as well as outside Tihar Jail is monitored to ward off any attempt to free Pakistani terrorists.

India Registers Protest against Bail to 26/11 Mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi

Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, dreaded terrorist and mastermind of 26/11 Mumbai Massacre, was granted bail by a Pakistan court yesterday. India reacted sharply and criticised Pakistan of such unwanted act. Though Pakistan government regarded it as a technical error and appealed to the High Court for bail cancellation, External Affairs Ministry Syed Akbaruddin didn’t mince words in making scathed attack on Pakistan government as well as judiciary. He pointed out today that this act of bail has added another level to the deliberate prolonged judicial process by Pakistani justice system on Mumbai attack.

Prahlad Gunjal, BJP MLA from Kota, threatened Chief Medical and Health Officer for transferring a nurse over phone. After audio clip, of the MLA threatening the CMHO, went viral on Whatsapp, Prahlad Gunjal has been booked by the police under multiple IPC sections including the charges of threatening as well as intimidating a government official over phone.   

Strict Liquour Policy Diluted by Kerala Government

Kerala Government relents to the extreme pressure from various quarters for relaxing the strict Liquor Policy. Kerala Government has not only moved away from the earlier resolve of declaring Sundays as dry days but also sanctioned wine and beer parlour functioning. On 31 March, 318 liquor bars in 5-Star rated Hotels were closed due to the then new policy. However, these bars will now be able to function as wine and beer parlours. Per Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, the change in new Liquor Policy was initiated considering the loss of jobs due to the policy implication.  

Micromax Launched its first Yu Brand Smartphone in India

Micromax launched its new mobile handset under Yu brand, named Yureka, which is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (64-bit) processor. It is priced at Rs 8,999 and will be exclusively available on Some of its important features are 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM, and dual camera (13MP rear and 5MP front). Yureka runs on Cyanogen operating system, which is again based on Android 4.4.4 OS. Micromax announced that this handset will soon come with updated Cyanogen which will be based on the latest Android Lollipop.

Indian Shuttlers move Ahead in World Super Series Finals

Indian ace shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and Saina Nehwal moved one step forward towards semi finals of World Super Series Finals. While 6th ranked Srikant beat Indonesia’s 8th ranked Tommy Sugiarto by 21-18 21-13, fourth ranked Saina beat Sung Ji Hyun of South Korea by 21-12, 21-18. Srikant took just 38 minutes to beat Sugiarto. While Saina will face Bae Yeon Ju of South Korea in her next match, Srikanth will play against Jan O Jorgensen.
