19 December 2019 Current Events Prices of Potatoes Shoots Up After Onions

After onions, potato  prices got a sharp increase by 75% in Delhi. As per price monitoring cell of consumer affairs ministry, other major cities such as Kolkata has also witnessed price hike if compared with last year. However, as per the government sources, there will be a significant decrease  in the price in next 10 days. As per the experts, unseasonal rains in the states of Punjab, UP and West Bengal had damaged the crops and slowed down harvesting could be the reason behind the price hike situation.
