19 February 2020 Current Events Government to Amend Aadhaar to be Linked to Voter ID Card

It has been notified that the government has moved to revise the Aadhaar Act and it will legally empower the Election Commission to link the unique identification number with the electoral roll. As per the government, the action is being taken in order to remove the spurious and fraudulent entries and giving "remote" voting rights to migrant voters. The process is underway. Meanwhile, the law ministry is working on a note to be put up before the Union Cabinet for the decision which will fumigate the  electoral roll.
