BJP is coming out a single largest party in Maharashtra assembly followed by Shiv Sena. The two strong allies of the past has recently broken off their partnership. BJP may come out as the single largest party in the state but will short of majority. It needs 144 seats to form government with full majority. The BJP for the first time fought election on its own in the state and displayed an impressive show. State party chief Devendra Fadnavis said that Maharashtra will have BJP chief minister.
A new case of cheating and corruption has been filled against Jindal Steel and Power Limited and others by CBI. The case is linked to the investigation of coal blocks allocation case. As per official report it is the 36th FIR in the coal block scam. Four locations in Chhattisgarh and Rajgarh have been searched soon after registering the case by the CBI. There are allegations of irregular mining in areas beyond the approved areas, coal mining more than recommended, sale of coal, irregular consumption of coal.
Samsung is slowly increasing its hold and ready to invest more in India's 4G market as per media report. At present Aircel and Bharti Airtel are the two major players in 4G where as Reliance Jio is still working to set up its own. It is not only Samsung but LG has also shown interest in this segment. Telecom Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad in his 5-day visit to South Korea will work to attract more investors who can invest money into electronics manufacturing market in India under 'Make in India' campaign. Government is putting efforts to make sure that India becomes self sufficient in electronics by 2020 so that the country does not have to depend upon import of these products.
Notices to yesteryear Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore, her son and actor Saif Ali Khan and many others have been issued by the Election Commission (EC) for organizing a marriage party in Gurgaon without taking prior permission for the same. They organized a marriage anniversary party of Saif Ali Khan with Kareena Kapoor at their palace in Pataudi. As per media report they violated model code of conduct. The loudspeakers were used without approval at the time of celebration that occurred on the night of Oct 15-16 and continued on night of Oct 16-17 as well. Accused have to reply by Oct 21 till 3 p.m.
With the Congress losing power in Haryana and Maharashtra, party President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi said that people have voted for a change and party will now play a constructive and vigilant role in both the states. They even congratulated the BJP for its success in the states and asked it to fulfill all the promises it made during election campaign.
The results of the Maharashtra and Haryana assembly elections which were held on October 15 are going to be declared today. In all 4119 candidates are contesting elections in Maharashtra for 288 seats and 1351 candidates in Haryana for the 90 assembly seats . Counting will begin in the morning. Elections are considered as a first major check of PM Narendra Modi's popularity after Lok Sabha election. 269 locations have been set for counting in Maharashtra and 57 in Haryana.
