20 December 2018 Current Events President's rule in Jammu & Kashmir from tonight

With the six months of governor's rule ending in the state, Jammu & Kashmir will now be under President's rule starting from midnight today.

In June, BJP had withdrawn its support to the Mufti-led PDP government, following which the state had come under Governor Satya Pal Malik's rule. On Monday, Malik had recommended the central government to impose President's rule. President Ram Nath Kovind has signed the proclamation, in the followup of PM Modi making the decision earlier this week.


After Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Congress waives farm loans in Rajasthan

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot announced loan waives up to the amount of Rs. 2 lakh yesterday. According to Gehlot, the process would put a dent of Rs. 18000 crore on the state treasury.

The three states newly under Congress's rule had their oath-taking ceremony on December 17. Since then, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh had already announced the decision. Farmer's loan wavering was one of the biggest promises in Congress's manifesto.
