20 June 2018 Current Events 3-Day National Yoga Olympiad 2018 commences in New Delhi

A 3-day National Yoga Olympiad had commenced at the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in CIET in New Delhi. This is the third consecutive year of this Olympiad of NCERT in which almost 500 students from 26 States are taking part.


Anukreethy Vas of Tamil Nadu crowned Miss India 2018

A 19-year-old college student from Tamil Nadu, Anukreethy Vas, has been crowned as the Femina Miss India 2018 on 19th June 2018. She beat 29 other contestants from across India in the race. The first runner-up was Meenakshi Chaudhary from Haryana and Shreya Rao from Andhra Pradesh was the second runner-up.


Dhanush Artillery Gun passes through Final Trials

The indigenously upgraded artillery gun, Dhanush has successfully passed through the final user trials at the Pokhran field firing range and is ready for the induction into the Army. The gun is an upgraded version of the Swedish Bofors gun acquired by India in the mid-1980s. 


Union Government signs Collaboration Agreement with Google for Flood Forecasting

The Union Government's Central Water Commission (CWC) which is India’s apex technical organization in the field of Water Resources has signed a Collaboration Agreement with Google for flood forecasting. This collaboration will help in the effective flood management in India. Google will utilize its high-resolution Digital Elevation Model (DEM) to generate flood inundation maps with the forecast inputs of CWC.
