Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh Wins Trust Vote, Proves Majority

As per reports, Manipur chief minister Biren Singh won the trust vote and proved his majority in the 60-member state Assembly on Monday. 32 legislators voted in favour of him through a voice vote, while 27 were against him. On Sunday, BJP lawmaker V Hangkhanlian was sworn in as the Protem Speaker.

Four GST Supplementary Legislations Cleared by Union Cabinet

As per reports, the four Goods and Services Tax (GST) legislations were approved by the Union Cabinet on Monday. The legislations approved included the Central-GST (C-GST), the Compensation Law, Integrated-GST (I-GST) and Union Territory-GST (UT-GST). Sources mentioned that all these will be introduced as Money Bill.

Once the new indirect tax regime is introduced, a combined GST will be charged on sale of goods and even on rendering of services. The revenue will be shared between the states and the centre in equal proportions.

Kumar Mangalam Birla to Handle Vodafone-Idea Merged Entity as its Chairman

As per reports, Kumar Mangalam Birla is going to be the chairman of Vodafone-Idea merged entity. Over a period of time, both the companies will have equal stakes, said sources.

As both the companies are strong brands, Vodafone and Idea will be operating separately.
