Zaibunissa, 1993 Mumbai blast convict surrenders

The 75 year old, Zaibunissa Kazi who had been convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case surrendered three days after a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against her. She appeared on wheelchair before the special TADA court. The court had also issued a warrant against the co-accused Sharif Dada Parkar, who is 80 years old.

Kazi's lawyers said she had certain medical tests to be done so she could not surrender before May 20. When she arrived she was hounded by the media she broke down to tears and asked for forgiveness. She cited different kinds of medical conditions and stated that she could not sit on the floor and was not sure how she would serve the jail term.

Earlier, her daughter had appealed to Markandey Katju, Press Council of India chairman. He approached the Maharashtra government for assigning mercy to her mother. She has been sentenced to five years of jail term for her role in the blasts. 

India and China look for early resolve of the border issue

India and China agreed to end the border dispute, and as the Prime Minister stated, early resolution of the same will be undertaken and peace be maintained in the intervening period across the borders.

The PM had discussion with the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, who is on a three day visit to India, privately over the border dispute. The details of this discussion have not been revealed, but it was specified that the present mechanism proved fruitful for resolving the issue. There were candid talks on wide ranging topics pertaining to mutual interest.  

Special representatives of both the countries will meet for chalking out a mutually acceptable plan for the border agreement. India's apprehensions regarding trade deficit as well as more market access for Indian investments and exports were also discussed. 

Judicial custody for Debjani Mukherjee till May 31 over the chit fund Saradha scam

Debjani Mukherjee, who is one of the accused in the chit fund scam of Saradha Group, has been sent to judicial custody till May 31.

In fact, in different cases she was remanded to judicial custody till May 22, 23 and 31 on charges of cheating, conspiracy as well as not paying the salary of the staff. The term for her police custody completed on Saturday but as she complained of sickness so was admitted to a nursing home and was brought to the court after being released from there.

She was arrested along with Sudipta Sen, Saradha promoter as well as Arvind Chauhan on April 23 from Jammu and Kashmir.

Saradha group went bust resulting in the loss of hard earned money of lakhs of depositors specially poor people. Sudipta Sen had earlier expressed satisfaction over the way the case is being investigated by the state government and he and his close aide Chauhan have also been sent to judicial custody till May 31 after their bail plea was rejected. 

Ajay and Sonakshi in Prabhudheva's next

Ajay Devgan and Sonakshi Sinha will be seen together again in Prabhudheva's next directorial venture. They were last seen in the movie Son of Sardar.

The movie, which is untitled yet, is produced by Gordhan Tanwani of Baba films in which Yammi Gautam is also supposed to portray an interesting role.

Ajay Devgan will work for the first time with Prabhudheva though Sonakshi has already featured in Rowdy Rathore and has also done an item number in OMG: Oh My God! with Prabhudheva. 

BCCI and Delhi police have a meeting over IPL scam

BCCI's Anti Corruption and Service Unit (ACSU) had a meeting the Delhi Police chief asking for cooperation in the spot-fixing issue.

Rajasthan Royals who are yet to register a first information was asked to do so against three players, S. Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan who were arrested on Wednesday following allegations of spot-fixing on them wherein they were asked to bowl no balls at a predetermined time.

In fact, the BCCI is gearing up for the issues which are coming up with some specific measures like making it mandatory for the agents of the cricketers to be accredited with the board and that one ACSU officer and a security official will accompany each team henceforth.

Meanwhile, the Delhi police chief has said he is under no pressure and that the three players will be treated in the same manner as is suitable for them. 

Yahoo to acquire Tumblr?

As per sources, Yahoo will acquire Tumblr for $1.1 billion and that too in cash.

As reported, a meeting had taken place between Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer and Tumblr CEO David Karp last week. The deal may be announced on Monday as it has got approval on Sunday by the board. This is being pegged as the biggest acquisition of a social networking company and edges past Facebook acquiring Instagram for $1 billion last year.

This would be the seventh deal by Mayer after she left Google and joined Yahoo.

Tumblr with more than 108 million blogs is expected to unleash new life in the company though it is yet to prove itself on mobile platforms.
