On Tuesday, a 12 year old girl was stopped from entering Lord Ayyappa's temple in Sabrimala by Kerala female constables. The girl accompanied her father from Puducherry for darshan and was stopped at 11 am at police control room in Pamba, which is five km from the main shrine. As per the sources, the girls age was mentioned to be 10 years in the 'virtue queue facility', however her original identity card reads 12 years old. The girl was stopped from entering the temple due to the ongoing controversy of women entering the shrine. Last week Supreme Court referred to a larger bench to review last year's landmark Sabrimala judgement where women of all age were allowed to visit the holy shrine. But after the protest, SC has decided to rethink the judgement and the temple officials requested women not to enter the temple for the time being.
