20 September 2019 Current Events HC Stays Recovery of Fines for Stubble Burning

On Thursday, High Court of both Punjab and Haryana stayed the recovery of fines for violating the ban on stubble burning imposed on the farmers. Further, the court has issued a notice to both the states to discuss the matter with the stakeholders and the agricultural institutes to find a solution regarding the same. This order was passed during a hearing of a petition filed by Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU), questioning the fines imposed on farmers of the states.
