21 April 2020 Current Events 80% COVID-19 Cases are Asymptomatic, Says Health Ministry

As per the Health Ministry, 80% of the COVID-19 cases in India were either asymptomatic or with lenient symptoms. Discernibly, the asymptomatic patients are the silent carriers of the virus. As a response, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said it is unfeasible to test everyone, but there were sufficient provisions under the ongoing strategy to test suspected asymptomatic people with contact or travel history. In fact, the tests were done to those with mild symptoms like flu and respiratory illness in hotspot areas. Further, one of the COVID-19 patients who had possible symptoms of the virus and tested positive later was given Plasma Therapy along with the standard treatment protocol who is now showing positive results with marked improvement in his health condition and is weaned off the ventilator support. The doctors at the Max hospital, Saket says that one donor can donate 400 ml of Plasma which can save two lives.
