Union Ministry of Power launches pilot project for converting conventional streetlights to LED

With an aim to make Delhi a smart city Union Ministry of Power launched a pilot project in which conventional street lights will be replaced by more efficient and environment-friendly LED lights. The project is expected to save Rs 700 crore and 25 crore units of electricity consumption. The project will then be extended across Delhi covering near about 5 lakh streetlight points. Started with North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), the project will then be extended to other civic bodies in Delhi.

DMK leader D Napolean joins BJP

Former union minister in UPA government and DMK leader D Napolean joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP party president Amit Shah while addressing rally in Tamil Nadu welcomed Napolean along with actress and dancer Gayatri Raghuram and Tamil film music director Gangai Amaran. BJP is increasing its star power by taking eminent personalities in the party and working hard to get hold in Tamill Nadu.

AAP's fund raising campaign ''Selfie with Mufflerman"

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a fund raising campaign under the name “Selfie with Mufflerman” for collecting donations for the forthcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Just to be more innovative, 25 donors will then be selected through lucky draw who will get a chance to join party chief Arvind Kejriwal over a cup of tea and take selfie with him. ''Mufflerman'' is created lost of buzz and even trending in Twitter.

Tai Tzu Ying defeated Saina Nehwal

India Olympic bronze medalist Saina Nehwal after 21-11, 13-21, 9-21 defeat against Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei is out of the World Super Series finals tournament at Dubai. Saina won the first game in 16 minutes but lost other two consecutive games. Fourth seed Kidambi Srikanth also lost a game against Chen Long of China and lost a chance to enter the final.

Google is likely to set up campus at Hyderabad

Internet giant Google is planning to set a up its own campus in Hyderabad and is likely to sign an MoU with Telangana government. In case it happens then this will be the third campus of Google after the US and the UK. Google at present is operating from a rented premises in Hyderabad. As per media report it is going to be a very big campus and further details will be announced at a press conference that will be held shortly.

Jammu and Kashmir elections' result on 23rd December

On the whole 66 percent polling has been recorded in the fifth and the final phase of polling in Jammu and Kashmir, which is the highest in the period of last 25 years in the state. In all 800 contestants contested elections for which the result will be declared on 23 December. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is contesting from Beerwah, Budgam district and Sonawar, Srinagar. According to most of the opinion polls, there exists a possibility of hung assembly in the state. National Conference and Congress which were coalition partners have decided to contest individually in the Assembly poll.
