21 December 2015 Current Events BKU famers to go on indefinite strike in March 2016

Farmers under the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) have decided to go on an indefinite strike inDelhion 17 March 2016. Their two main demands include complete waiving off crop loans and the immediate implementation of Swaminathan Commission’s comments/suggestions. To be held atDelhi’s Jantar Mantar, this indefinite strike won’t permit any vehicle to enterNew Delhion 17 March 2016. 


Maharashtra records maximum farmer suicides in 2015

A record breaking 2,590 farmers from different parts ofMaharashtrahave reportedly committed suicide from January 2015 to October 2015. Even though, the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced Rs10,512 crore package for the state farmers; the refusal to implement a complete loan waiver lead to multiple farmer deaths. 


India Gate to Jantar Mantar- Nirbhaya's parents continue to protest

With the release of December 16 gang-rape juvenile convict on Sunday, parents of the victim staged a protest near India Gate on Sunday. Being detained by the police, Nirbhaya’s parents would continue to protest at the Jantar Mantar today. Quite disappointed by the verdict on the gang-rape case, both, Asha Devi (mother) and Badri Singh Pandey (father) have urged the Indian PM for a two-minute meeting to discuss the injustice done to their departed daughter. 


70 Indian fishermen detained by Pakistan

70 Indian fishermen along with their 11 fishing boats were detained by Pakistan Marine Security Agency near the International Maritime Boundary Limit off Gujarat coast. While the fishermen were traveling in 12 different boats, none of them exploded due to constant firing by the Pakistani security agency. 


Rs 114.45 crore Puducherry Flood relief disbursed

The Puducherry government has announced a flood relief of Rs 114.45 crore to a whopping 2.86 lakh families of flood victims. Recording an excessive quantum of downpour, Puducherry was severely hit by floods in November this year. The flood relief would be paid to affected families via their valid/active bank accounts.

Lucknow-bound AI flight returns to Delhi post windshield cracks

Carrying a total of 160 passengers, the AI flight AI 411 toLucknowwas re-routed toDelhi’sIGIAirport. Witnessing a series of cracks in the AI aircraft’s windshield, the pilot decided to land the flight inDelhi- done successfully at 8:20AM. AI made arrangements to fly down their passengers via a different aircraft. 


New BSNL customers to enjoy reduced rates

All new BSNL customers can now enjoy slashed mobile call rates. The state-owned telecom company has taken this initiative to attract a greater count of customers from different parts of the world. Valid for the first two months, the call rates will be reduced by upto 80% and can be availed of as per a specified scheme.
