Former RSS Pracharak Khattar becomes CM of Haryana

Manohar Lal Khattar, MLA from Karnal assembly constituency, has been selected as their unanimous leader by all the elected Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs of Haryana, in the presence of Central observers. The 60-year-old RSS veteran is considered to be close to both Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. 

Maharashtra Impasse Continues

Maharashtra BJP has claimed that it has the support of 138 MLAs. This tally includes BJP’s 123 MLAs, smaller parties,and independents. Om Thakur, election in-charge of BJP, has claimed that they will have the required numbers.However, BJP has also said that final decision of government formation will be decided after Diwali.

NCP gets Verbal Spat from Shiv Sena, SS Calls NCP Opportunist

Nationalist Congress Party, the game spoiler for Shiv Sena, has been verbally attacked by the latter by calling former an opportunist political party. The spat comes after NCP had announced unilateral and unconditional support to BJP to form the next government in Maharashtra.

U-12 Indian Hockey Team Defends its SOJC Title

The under-21 Indian hockey team has retained the title of Sultan of Johor Cup. They defeated their counterpart from Great Britain by 2 to 1. The game was played on October 19, 2014. It was Harmanpreet Singh of India who converted two penalty corners to give India the required lead and defend the U-21 SOJC hockey title. 

CBI Files Revised Final Closure Report on Coal Scam

After a special court hearing the coal block allocation scam questioned the CBI’s hurry in closing the case against PC Parakh (former coal secretary) and Kumar Mangalam Birla (a top industrialist), the central investigating agency has filed a revised final closure report. The next date of hearing of the case will be November 10, 2014.

Alerts Sent Out on Possible Terror Attacks during Diiwali: Rajnath

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has categorically mentioned that ruling out possible terror attacks during Diwali is not practical. While responding to reporters on the sidelines of a function, he went on to say that alerts have been issued henceforth.

Union Oil Minister defends Deregulation of Diesel Prices

 Union Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that diesel price deregulation has been done by the Union Government for the benefit of people. He made this statement while replying to a reporter who pointed out the problems the common man is going to face due to linkage of domestic diesel price with that of forces of global market. The minister went on to say that his government has back-up plans in cases when there are rise in crude oil price.

Union Government Ordinance for Resolving Coal Supply Issue

 After September 24 Supreme Court verdict leading to cancellation of 204 coal blocks allocated earlier, the Union government is going to issue ordinance that will help in resolving supply issues of coal to central as well as state government companies, on one hand, and private companies in the power, steel, and cement businesses. Arun Jaitley, Union Finance Minister, has also said that for introduction of commercial mining, provisions will be enabled at a later date. Market cheered on this announcement.

Hero MotoCorp to Expand Exponentially

Hero MotoCorp is looking forward to capacity expansion by the year 2020. The largest two wheeler manufacturer of India is all set to invest Rs 5,000 crore for increasing annual production capacity to a massive 12 million units. Capacity expansion will be done in the existing manufacturing units present in India, Bangladesh, and Colombia.
