No CBI probe for Dabholkar murder

Shiv Sena does not want the murder of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar to be probed by CBI. The party named this act ‘foolish’. Though the killers have not yet been arrested by the police but Shiv Sena has full faith on the wordings of Home Minister RR Patil who has given a guarantee that investigation is going on and that too in a right direction. This has been mentioned in an editorial of the party mouthpiece Saamana. It states that there was a demand to give this case to CBI or NIA. But giving case to these means distrust on the state police. The editorial also mentioned that state police should probe the murder case and the party has full faith in the police. Mukta, daughter of Dabholkar and an activist of the Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti (ANS) also said the same. Two unknown assailants killed Dabholar in Pune on 20th August. Narendra Dabholkar was a rationalist, author and the founder-president of Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti (MANS). MANS was formed to eradicate superstitions. Dabholkar’s killing has caused a social movement in Maharashtra. Supporters and activists showed their anger through protest marches and dharnas. Also disappointment on the slow pace of probe has also been shown by the protesters.

Sachin Tendulkar and Mumbai Indians

Sachin Tendulkar is one of the greatest batsmen in cricket and his contribution to cricket is commendable. A 40-year-old Sachin might be playing for the last time in T20. So main attention in the opening game of the Champions League T20 would be none other than Sachin Tendulkar. Skipper Rohit Sharma wants his team to play good as this will be an ode to Sachin. The match is being played between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. On the other hand Rahul Dravid’s team (Rajasthan Royals) at present is dealing with issues of ban. Last week, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given life bans to two of the players and one player has been handed one year ban. Apart from this there is a Sachin factor to affect the psychology of a player.  Bans are surely a great set back to the entire team and they must work on it. Rahul Dravid said that he has played many matches as a team mate with Sachin as well as many against each other. But this is not important for a match. There is no doubt that Sachin is a great player but a match must be played like a match and treated as a match between the two teams. Sachin has played 91 T20s till date scoring 2727 runs.
