22 April 2020 Current Events Delhi-Noida Border Sealed, With Some Exceptions

The Delhi-Noida border has been sealed as a precautionary measure to fight COVID-19 as announced by the Uttar Pradesh government. Though Delhi is now the third-worst hit by coronavirus with over 2,156 number of cases after Maharashtra and Gujarat with 5218 and 2178 cases respectively, Noida's Gautam Buddh Nagar has also been identified as "worst-hit" which has about 100 cases so far. The District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar said that the health department had found people who have tested positive and have had a connect with Delhi. Further, many people have been commuting between Delhi and Noida as well. Some exceptions have been made to the lockdown, which includes allowing frontline health workers and police officers to commute. Vehicles that are carrying essential items, ambulance services, media persons carrying the e-pass issued by the government are also allowed for commuting.
