Railways promises 100% refund for cancelled trains

Railways has informed giving away a “full refund” to passengers for cancellation of trains due to the Jat quota agitation. While passengers who had made the reservations via internet would automatically receive their refund in full, the ones who had booked their tickets in-person could collect the refund from the passenger reservation centres.

Sparks row, post installation of CCTVs in Manipur schools

The use of CCTV cameras at some test centres and districts of Manipur during the Class 12 examinations has provoked charges of bad faith and discrimination. Initially launched as an initiative to keep a good check on cheaters, the installation of eighteen Closed-circuit television cameras is now being regarded notorious for offering liberty to the examinees to cheat.

Arya Babbar ties the knot with Jasmine Puri

Son of Bollywood actor-turned politician Raj Babbar, actor Aarya Babbar tied the knot with long-time girlfriend Jasmine Puri. An Andheri-based Gurudwara served as the wedding venue with the entire ceremony being an intimate affair attended by close friends and family. Aarya’s friends from Big Boss 8, Upen Patel and Karishma Tanna were also present at the wedding ceremony.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 set for March 3 launch in India

Today, Xiaomi announced the March 2 launch of its Redmi Note 3 in India. The company would be launching the note at an event scheduled to take place in Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi. This new variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 SoC along with a fingerprint scanner placed towards the back side of the note.

Sensex approaches fourth session of gains

Today, the Indian stock markets scaled to reach for a fourth consecutive winning session with energy firms like Reliance Industries gaining after suffering from steep losses in the previous session. Apart from this, the analysts are warning the gains in shares to be restricted ahead of the government’s 2016/17 budget which is due on 29 February 2016.

Reliance Communications heads to acquire MTS

Fair trade regulator CCI has given its consent to Reliance Communications’ (RCom) deal to acquire Russian Sistema’s Indian telecom unit, Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd. (SSTL) that operates under the MTS brand. CCI has approved transfer of telecommunications undertaking of Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd. to Reliance Communications. Last year November saw RCom announcing acquisition of Sistema’s Indian telecom unit in an all-stock deal that would be creating an operator with 118 million subscribers.  

Mehbooba Mufti points collaboration with BJP

Daughter of late J&K CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mehbooba Mufti has hinted that PDP would be ready to form J&K government with BJP, basis her father’s dreams are being fulfilled completely. She also stated that the decision would be in the interest of the country and an effective initiative to make J&K a bridge between India and Pakistan.

SC to hear Delhi govt's petition on water supply today

The Supreme Court is ready for an urgent hearing to the petition moved by Delhi government seeking Centre’s intervention for the uninterrupted supply of water from the Munak Canal in Haryana. Amid agitations from Jat, Delhi government’s senior standing counsel Rahul Mehra stated that the petition was mentioned before the Registrar on Sunday. The Registrar had then marked the matter for hearing the next day.

Railways likely to run a check of its 80 years+ pensioners

All the Railway inspectors have been asked to visit the houses of pensioners who are more than 80 years of age. It is being instructed to obtain their signatures and if possible, that of their neighbours so as to certify that the beneficiary is alive. The initiative is a result of cash deficiency and bulging pension bill which is being faced by the railways department of India.
