Saradha Scam – CBI Probe Net Widens

CBI has started questioning some of the top notches in Saradha Ponzi Scam. Former Finance Minister of India P. Chidambaram’s wife, Nalini Chidambaram – a Supreme Court lawyer, was examined by the central investigating agency in connection with payment of Rs. 1 crore by Saradha Group to her. CBI has also grilled Abu Hasem Khan Chowdhury, Congress MP from Malda South Lok Sabha constituency of West Bengal.  CBI arrested two stock brokers involved with fund appropriation of Artha Tatwa (AT) group, which is a direct fallout of the infamous Saradha scam.

Modi Emphasises on Indegenous Innovations

Indian PM Narendra Modi has asked IITians to innovate and bring positive changes in the lives of common people of India through local innovations. He particularly said “Science is universal. Technology must be local”. DRDO chief and Scientific Adviser to Defence Minister Dr Avinash Chander a week back said that India has come a long way in technological matter and transformed itself from a mere importer to technology innovator.

India's Mangalyaan Enters Crucial Phase and Test Fires Successfully

India’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MoM) has entered Mars Gravitational Sphere of Influence (MGSI), which means the aircraft is within 5.4 lakh km radius. On November 5, 2013, the spaceport was launched from Sriharikota and is scheduled to enter the Martian Orbit on September 24, 2014. ISRO today successfully woke up the main rocket engine inside the spacecraft for 4 seconds that has been lying dormant for the last nine months.

Dipika Wins Bronze at Asian Games 2014

Jitu Rai not only won India a gold medal in 50-metre pistol event but also led 10-metre air pistol team (consisting of Jitu Rai, Prakash Nanjappa, and Samresh Jung) to win Bronze medal. Dipika Pallikal won a bronze for India in Squash. India thrashed Nepal 3-0 in men’s tennis competition to reach the quarterfinals. Thailand thrashed India Women’s Football team 10-0 in third Group-A match.

'Make in India' Campaign to reach 3000 World-Leading Companies

Indian PM Narendra Modi is all set to launch a campaign drawing attention of the  top 3000 companies of the world for making India their manufacturing destination. The ‘Make in India’ campaign is scheduled to be launched on September 25, 2014 (Thursday). Twenty five sectors have been selected as ‘priority sectors’, which includes ‘Make in India-Bio-tech’, ‘Make in India-Auto Component’, ‘Make in India-Pharma’, and many more.

SEBI asks for more Information from RIL on Network18 Takeover

On the issue of Network18 and TV18 Broadcast takeover by Reliance Industries, SEBI has asked for additional information. The concerned takeover was done by RIL through IMT or Independent Media Trust. Spokesperson of RIL has clarified that SEBI has not asked for offer price revision but has asked for additional information, which the entity seeks from time to time. The company is expecting clearance of the takeover soon.

G20 to Implement Mechanism to Deal with Black Money

G20 Countries have decided to implement a mechanism to help respective countries in the group including India to deal with the menace of black money more efficiently. The plan is to implement automatic exchange mechanism of tax information by the year 2017. G20 communique has said that Global Common Reporting Standard has been finalised and endorsed by G20 to deter and tackle cross-border tax evasion efficiently.

Intelligence Report about Two Indian Origin Persons Recruiting Jihadis

Indian intelligence officials have come across some shocking facts during their recent investigations in Hyderabad and Jaipur. They have got evidence of the involvement of at least two Indian origin persons who worked as recruiters of Indian youths for both Al-Qaeda and Islamic State in Iraq/Syria - two notorious terrorist outfits of the world. While one of them is a SIMI member from Karnataka, another person is 38-year-old Abdul Khader Sultan Armar from Bhatkal.

BJP urges Shiv Sena not to break Alliance in Maharashtra

As deadlock between Maharashtra BJP and Shiv Sena continues, BJP has urged its 25-year old partner not to break the alliance. BJP President Amit Shah called upon Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thakeray and urged him to give a second thought to the seat-sharing formula after BJP leaders of Maharashtra rejected the 119 seats offered for contest by Shiv Sena. Rumors are abuzz that the two partners, who share the ‘Hindutva’ cause, may end their alliance.

Seat Bargaining continues between Maharashtra Congress and NCP

Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Sonia Gandhi-headed Indian National Congress (INC) are still at loggerheads on seat sharing in Maharashtra before the October Assembly election. NCP gave a 50-50 seat sharing formula earlier and now the top INC leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Prithviraj Chavan (current Maharashtra CM), and others are deliberating on the issue.

Mamata's Nephew Mocks JU Students' Protest

After a protest by lakhs of students against Jadavpur University molestation issue and consequent brutal police action on them within the university campus, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, had the audacity to mock the student's move. Abhishek Banerjee suggested in a Facebook post that the widespread protest was aimed at not against the molestation at the ban of liquor and other narcotic drugs within the campus.
