Attack on Indian consulate in Afghanistan condemned by Narendra Modi and Manmohan Singh

 

The attack on Indian Consulate in Herat, Afghanistan was condemned by both the outgoing PM Manmohan Singh and the PM-designate Narendra Modi. As per media reports, Manmohan Singh specified that this was not going to affect the relations between New Delhi and Kabul. Modi had a discussion with Indian ambassador in Afghanistan Amar Sinha immediately after the attack. He also extended his support to all the staff of the consulate. The attack was launched by four gunmen today in the early morning.

Vaiko meets Rajnath Singh over invitation to Sri Lankan President

MDMK leader Vaiko today had a meeting with the BJP president Rajnath Singh over the invitation extended to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa for swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi, the PM-designate. As per media reports, the MDMK leader told the media that when Vajpayee was sworn-in as the Prime Minister of India, Sri Lankan President was not invited. The invitation has sparked a controversy.

Kejriwal to be in jail till June 6

 

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal will be in jail till June 6 as his judicial custody was extended today when he, for the second time, refused to pay the bail bond. As per media reports, the judge mentioned to him that the court was only following the legal process under which he was being asked to furnish the bail bond but Kejriwal stated that he had not committed any crime.

Jaswant Singh meets Advani, Rajnath

In an interesting development, Jaswant Singh, who was expelled from BJP after he decided to contest against the BJP candidate in Barmer, today met party president Rajnath Singh and LK Advani in New Delhi. As the speculation increases regarding his interest to rejoin the party, it is also being said that Jaswant Singh is looking for a place for his son who was expelled from the party after he campaigned for his father.

Sensex soars 318 points

According to media reports, Indian stocks surged on Friday with Sensex adding 318.95 points. It started at 24535.14 and closed at 24693.35. The gain in capital goods and banking stocks showed the impact on the market. National Stock Exchange also soared 90.70 points or 1.25% and ended at a new record of 7,367.10.

BJP tapped 144 million internet users in the elections

As per media reports, the IT cell of “Elect Modi Campaign” reached out to as many as 144 million people across India in the LS elections. The IT cell though cannot spell out the figures that translated into votes but it stated that the internet users formed a huge vote bank and were able to influence others as well. In fact, the cell claims that it reached out to almost all the internet users.
