23 September 2020 Current Events Flood Like Situation in Mumbai After Overnight Rain

Mumbai has been witnessing heavy rain since Tuesday. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted severe rainfall today. Therefore IMD issued a yellow alert for three cities: Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad, while an orange alert was issued for Palghar. Rail and road traffic badly hit. Several train services are suspended due to waterlogging in the city. Western suburbs received about 150 mm-200 mm of rainfall, at a time when Mumbai is fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic. In this circumstance, maintaining social distancing norms would be another challenge.
