Second terror suspect's sketch released by the police

The sketch of a second terror suspect whom the alleged  Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was to contact to launch a 'fidayeen' (suicide) terror attack in the capital was released by Delhi Police. As per Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) S.N. The terror attack in the capital has been averted as per the police when on Friday they arrested Syed Liyaqat Shah, 47, a resident of Dardpora village in Kashmir's Kupwara district, from Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur on March 20.  Shah was asked by his Pakistan handlers to get in touch with a person, related to Hizbul Mujahideen cadre, in a guest house in Delhi's Jama Masjid area who was to give him arms and ammunition for launching the attack during the Holi festival. His confession led the police to recover an AK-56 assault rifle, three hand grenades, two magazines -- each carrying 30 round cartridges, 220 grams of explosives, a Delhi map and a memory card. Delhi Police on Saturday had rejected claims of Shah's family that Shah was to surrender in Jammu and Kashmir under the state government's rehabilitation policy.

India win the series 4-0 against Australia

It was sweet revenge for India when they won the series 4-0 against Australia and for Australia this was only the second time they lost the series 0-4, the last time it was in 1970 when Bill Lawry took them to South Africa. The fourth test was won by six wickets and two days to spare for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Ferozeshah Kotla here Sunday. Given a target of 155 runs on a day when 16 wickets slumped for 328 runs on the treacherous Kotla pitch, Cheteshwar Pujara scored more than 50% of the required runs (82 not out), the highest by a batsman in the Test. Dhoni struck the winning hit. This was a morale booster for India who had lost four Tests each in England and Australia. Starting with the overnight score of 266 for eight, the Indian innings was only for 13 balls and the hosts were bowled out for 272. Nathan Lyon achieved his career-best seven for 94. The Australian batting crumbled for a second time and Peter Siddle again rescued them with his second 50 of the match to give Australia some score to bowl at. Australia had scored 262 in the first innings. Siddle, who struck 51 in the first innings, also created the record of being the first No.9 to score a half-century in both innings of a Test.Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja got his maiden fifer - five for 58 and was declared the Man of the Match and off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin Man of the series for his 29-wicket haul.

Charge Google for violating India's mapping regulations: BJP MP

BJP’s MP Tarun Vijay stated that the government should charge Google for "violating" India's defence regulations on maps and see to it that the company surrenders its "illegally stored" data to the Surveyor General of India. Tarun Vijay in reference to Google's Mapathon 2013 exercise said,"Getting every inch of India mapped by illegally inviting people to send the data for their US-based servers presents a grave danger to the security and poses a challenge to the Indian state." Mapathon 2013 started last month and ends on March 25. This is an India-wide mapping contest by Google with prizes kept for top mappers. Google Maps users from across the country have been invited "to help create better maps for India" by adding inputs about their neighborhoods through the Google map maker. The Bharatiya Janata Party MP said that Google by running a Map India campaign without permission has broken the statutory norms and does not conform to the National Map Policy and map restriction policies issued by the defence ministry. Tarun Vijay further added that the Surveyor General of India (SOI) was authorized to undertake "restricted" category survey, mapping and disseminating India's topographic map database and that the defence ministry has identified and enlisted civil and military Vital Areas (VAs)/Vital Points (VPs) in consultation with the home ministry and this is updated on a regular basis. These VAs/VPs cannot be displayed in the maps/data published in the public domain as Google will be doing.
