24 October 2018 Current Events Five Indian Languages added to Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) by Amazon

The E-commerce giant Amazon has added five Indian languages to Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) which is its eBook publishing unit. The added languages are Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam, and Marathi. As per reports, the decision is taken to help the authors to self-publish their eBooks in these five languages. Launched by Amazon in 2007, KDP is a free service which allows the authors to get a fast market for their books and also keep control of them. The authors can set their own prices and can earn up to 70 percent on the sale of their eBooks. 


West Bengal: Two killed and seventeen injured in a stampede on foot over bridge

Two people were killed and seventeen others including women and children were injured in a stampede which took place in West Bengal's Howrah on Tuesday. The incident took place at around 6 pm at the Sabtragachhi junction in Howrah when the announcement for the simultaneous arrival of trains was made. Passengers started rushing towards the platforms to board the train which ultimately became the cause of the incident.
