25 March 2019 Current Events Bhaichung Bhutia To Contest For Sikkim Elections
Bhaichung Bhutia, India's former football captain, will contest the polls in Sikkim. In an auction which took place on Sunday, he offered his two favourite tee-shirts to raise funds for his Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP). As per recent reports, he said that his main agenda to contest elections is to implement policies which will lead to the formation of “happy Sikkim”. On Twitter, he posted for his football fans quoting “like many other states issues related to corruption, unemployment, farmer's distress etc. are prevailing in Sikkim also, which needs to be looked upon”.
HSP was formed last year on 31 March with an agenda that the party will implement the policies for “happy Sikkim” for the next five years. Bhaichung told that their party had schemes and policies for youngsters so that they can become self-reliant and could lead the life of dignity. Also, at the same time, Sikkim is voting for its 32 assembly constituencies and for the sole Lok Sabha seats whose first phase will be on April 11. The results will be announced on May 23.
