Prime Minister Narendra Modi on live television announced nationwide "total lockdown" in the country for 21 days on Tuesday evening (COVID-19 in India - Live Updates). However, no information was given whether people can step out to purchase necessities such as food supplies. Right after the announcement, crowds mobbed stores in Delhi and other parts of the country to stock up. The measure has been taken after a spike of positive cases; 536 in India and ten deaths.
