25 May 2014 Current Events Hyundai Motors to recall its 2,437 units of Santa Fe SUV

Hyundai Motors has initiated the process to call back its sports utility vehicle (SUV) Santa Fe 2011 model because of some technical faults detected in them. 2,437 units of Santa Fe manufactured during the period of 26 June 2011 - 26 September 2013 will be recalled, and owners of the concerned vehicle will be told about the time when they have to bring their vehicles to get them in order. As per media reports, the vehicles have faulty "Stop Lamp Switch" placed near the brake pedal mechanism.


Fielders did not field well – Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody

Sunrisers Hyderabad lost a match to Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. As per media reports, coach of Sunrisers, Tom Moody, blamed his fielders and inconsistent performance of the team. Fielders missed two chances to send Yusuf Pathan, who was playing an awesome innings for Kolkata, back to pavilion. He added that score of 160 made by the team was competitive for that pitch but loss of Shikhar Dhawan at a very important point hit the team badly.


Legislator Baby's request to resign rejected by CPI(M)

CPM leader and sitting legislator M. A. Baby’s resignation has been rejected by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) in a meeting on Saturday. Baby had contested Lok Sabha elections from Kollam constituency and lost it to former cabinet colleague N.K. Premachandran. As per media reports, the issue of Baby’s resignation erupted when he left for his home constituency while the counting was going on for Kollam Lok Sabha constituency. Baby even stated his wish to resign to a TV Channel.

In an effort to make the quality of life better in the New Delhi Municipal Council area for residents, visitors and tourists, an alert service has been initiated. A person has to just click the picture of the tacky place or area and upload it by using a photo-based app to send an alert to the civic agency. As per media reports, wi-fi facility will be instigated in few of the prominent markets like Khan Market, which will be followed by CP, DIlli Haat and Sarojini Nagar. Users can surf Internet for free for 15 mins.


12 members nominated to Legislative Council by Bihar Governor

12 people have been nominated as members of the State Legislative Council under a special quota by Bihar Governor D.Y. Patil, as per media reports. With the inputs from the state cabinet, the members have been nominated by the Governor. In the list of nomination, names such as Samrat Choudhary, Javed Iqbal and Ram Lakhan Ram Raman (recently resigned from Rashtriya Janata Dal), Vijay Mishra and Rana Gangeshwar Singh (resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party), Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh were included.


Do not indulge in bitter acrimony – Sonia Gandhi to partymen

Sonia Gandhi, the re-elected chairperson of Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP), urged the party members not to become a part of ‘public acrimony’, which is happening because of the very poor performance of the party in Lok Sabha elections. As per media reports, she addressed the meeting of CPP and asked the party MPs to act like watchdogs while playing their role in opposition. She even asked for the suggestions to reinvent the organization at all levels. Outgoing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also spoke a few words at the meeting.
