The two underground stretches of the Chennai Metro have finally opened after six of construction. Both the stretches were inaugurated by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri from Chennai Egmore Metro Rail station today. These two new stretches are Nehru Park to Chennai Central and Saidapet to AG-DMS.
The devotees from all over the country gathered at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi on Thursday on the auspicious occassion of Ganga Dussehra to take a holy dip in the river Ganga. This day marks the descent of river Ganges on the earth from the heaven.
Ever since the news of the discharging of molasses from a sugar mill into the Beas river broke out, a massive dip in the sale of fishes has been noticed in Punjab. It has created a situation of fear among the buyers as they believe that the adding of molasses has poisoned the river. As the result, the livelihood of hundreds of families into the fish business has declined.
The second carriageway of Lajpat Nagar flyover, from Moolchand to Ashram, will be re-opened today. It was closed on May 15 for some repair works and was meant to re-open on May 31 but the public works department completed this work before time. The closure of this flyover caused traffic jams between Lajpat Nagar which led the department to speed up the repair work and comlete it before May 31.
