Surface Transport and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari has stated that under Bharatmala project one crore jobs will be created as this is the biggest infrastructure project of the country. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Gadkari said tribal and border areas and economically backward districts have been especially considered and it will give major a fillip to infrastructure in the country. Minister stated that:
1. 44 economic corridors being created with thrust on job creation.
2. 35 logistic parks are being developed with two multimedia hubs being set up in Nagpur and Varanasi.
3. 550 districts will be covered under Bharatmala project as against earlier 300 districts.
4. 185 choke points identified to decongest corridors.
5. 28 ring roads are being planned and express highways being constructed.
