25 October 2017 Current Events Bharatmala project expected to create 1 crore jobs

Surface Transport and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari has stated that under Bharatmala project one crore jobs will be created as this is the biggest infrastructure project of the country. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Gadkari said tribal and border areas and economically backward districts have been especially considered and it will give major a fillip to infrastructure in the country. Minister stated that:
1. 44 economic corridors being created with thrust on job creation. 

2. 35 logistic parks are being developed with two multimedia hubs being set up in Nagpur and Varanasi.

3. 550 districts will be covered under Bharatmala project as against earlier 300 districts. 

4. 185 choke points identified to decongest corridors. 

5. 28 ring roads are being planned and express highways being constructed. 


Gujarat Assembly election schedule announced
Election Commission has announced Gujarat Election Schedule. Gujarat will go to polls in two phases on December 9th and 14th for 182 assembly seats. 89 seats will go to polls in the first phase and the rest 93 in the second phase.
4.33 crore electorates will exercise their right at 50128 polling stations. Notification for the first phase will be issued on 14th of November while 20th November will be the date of notification for the second phase. Counting will be held on 18th December along with Himachal Pradesh, which goes to poll on 9th of next month. EVMs with VVPAT will be used at all polling stations. 182 polling stations will be managed by women only. The model code of conduct has come into force with immediate effect. The term of the Gujarat Assembly ends on 22nd January next year.
