India has so far won 11 bronze medals in Asian Games 2014. The 11th bronze was won by Swaran Singh in single sculls event. Women’s compound team ofIndia has reached semi finals by beatingKazakhstan. Men’s compound team also reached the semis by beatingMalaysia. In Men's Competition of 25m Standard Pistol, Gurpreet Singh qualified for the finals.India’s chances in women’s team Squash competition brightened as Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal beat Hong Kong.

Gas Price Rise Decision Deferred by 45 Days

The decision for gas price rise has been deferred till November 15, 2014 by the Union Government. Political analysts say that it could have been done keeping in mind the Assembly Elections on October 15, 2014 in Haryana and Maharashtra. Since May, NDA government has deferred the decision of gas price hike for the second time.    

Second Generation Moto X now Available for Sales on Flipkart

The 2nd generation Motorola Moto X is now available in India through Flipkart. It costs Rs 31,999. In comparison to its predecessor Moto X, it is going to be costlier by Rs 10,000. This new smartphone runs on Android 4.4 but is expected to be updated to the upcoming Android L operating system. New Moto X features 5.2-inch Full HD screen, Corning Gorilla Glass for display protection, 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM, etc.

Four Reform Bills of Rajasthan Stride Ahead

Four reform bills passed by the Rajasthan Assembly have been approved by the Union Labour Ministry. These bills will now go to Home Ministry for approval. The four bills that were passed on July 31, 2014 by the Rajasthan Assembly include Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, Apprenticeship Act, Industrial Disputes Act, and Factories Act. There will be no problems of receiving Presidential assent if the Home Ministry approves the bills.

Forbes' Billionaire List of India – Mukesh No.1, Gauram Adani Biggest Gainer

India houses one hundred billionaires and the top rank in the list has been retained by Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries Limited. The second and third positions are adorned by Dilip Sanghvi, Managing Director and Founder of Sun Pharmaceuticals, and Azim Premji of Wipro Limited, respectively. Gautam Adani has amassed $7.1 billion to rank at number 11 in the Indian Billionaire list of Forbes. He is the biggest gainer, who added $4.5 billion in the last one year.

Sushma Swaraj kicks off her US Visit

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has begun her 10-day US trip today. She is scheduled to have back-to-back meetings in the US with her counterparts from seven other nations including Maldives and UK. During her US visit, Sushma Swaraj will meet around hundred foreign ministers and will eventually join Indian PM’s delegation when he reaches New York on September 26, 2014.

Modi Government Effects Biggest Reshuffle

Over the past two days, the Modi government has transferred around 50 top ranking officials of joint and additional secretary level. Reshuffle order of 48 officers were given during mid-night of Tuesday. That’s why many in the administrative circle are calling it ‘midnight massacre’. 40 transferred officers are IAS cadres, and the remaining belong to Indian Civil Accounts Service, Indian Forest Service, Indian Postal Service, Indian Revenue Service, etc. Ahead of theUSvisit, Narendra Modi made eight new appointments at the secretary level.   

Shiv Sena Reaches out to BJP after the top brass of BJP Hint at Calling it Quits

 Shiv Sena rushed in to save the 25-year-old alliance after the BJP top brass hinted at ending the alliance yesterday. When Home Minister Rajnath Singh was asked on the possible split he informed that the talks are still going on for reaching a consensus on seat sharing during upcoming Maharashtra Assembly election, to be held on October 15, 2014. However, another national level leader of BJP said that from their side the alliance is over.

UN Report shows actresses don't get to play leads in Indian films

UN Report on women portrayed in movies show that very few Indian films show women in lead roles, as compared to the United States of America and France. While preparing the report, 120 films across 10 countries – India, Germany, France, China, Brazil, Australia, United Kingdom, South Korea, Russia, and Japan – were examined. Only 23.5 per cent of the total number of most popular films surveyed had women in lead roles.

TMC MP Tapas Pal in a Soup after High Court Directive

 Justice Dipankar Dutta of Calcutta High Court has today directed to file FIR in the coming 72 hours against actor-turned- MP from Krishnanagar (West Bengal) - Tapas Pal. The ruling was given on a PIL filed regarding the hate speech of the concerned MP where he threatened to "set his boys" free to rape women relatives of CPM workers. The court has also asked CID to investigate Tapas Pal’s hate speech.
