26 August 2016 Current Events Twitter Boycotts Myntra, Trending BoycottMyntra

Twitter's BoycottMyntra is trending in the social media after the Flipkart-owned-e-commerce company ended up hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindus. An advertisement showing Draupadi disrobed in Kaurava's court came up with Myntra's logo in it. After a user asked Myntra for an explanation, it went viral. Later it was found that a content-creating website, ScrollDroll was behind the entire story.


Firms Banned by IIT Placement

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) placement has banned 31 firms as the firms were delaying dates of joining of the candidates. Some of the blacklisted firms are Portea Medical and Grofers. IIT had banned Zomato last year, which is going to continue this year as well. While doing so, one company was found which did not even have an address. Till date IIT has blacklisted many companies.


Bombay HC Lifts Ban of Women Inside the Haji Ali Dargah

Lifting the restriction on women inside the Haji Ali Dargah on Friday, Bombay High Court has made it legal for women to visit and get inside the dargah. Defending the restriction, the trust said that women entering inside the dargah and being in close proximity to the tomb of the male saint is a sin in Islam. The ban was imposed in 2012 March or June.
